Casselberry apartment complex adds security after girl attacked

Security And Investigations, Inc. (S.A.I.) was brought in to provide security and peace of mind to residents in a Winter Park neighborhood after a young girl was attacked.

A Seminole County apartment complex added security Saturday night after police say a burglar sexually assaulted an underage girl.

Some said even with more security, it’s still easy for someone to sneak in, especially if they’re determined.

Police were called there early Saturday morning after a man broke into one those apartments and sexually assaulted a girl inside. Police did not release the girl’s condition or many other details.

The suspect escaped and police later put out a description. He’s described as about 19 or 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 to 200 pounds, with a piercing below his lower lip. Police said he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jean shorts and a baseball style hat with possibly short hair or a shaved head. Police also said he was armed with a handgun.

“I just really hope that things like this don’t happen again because I feel like this neighborhood really prides itself on its safety,” said neighbor Grant Ferrell.

The 911 calls are not yet being made public.
